We are a husband and wife team who offer professional wedding photography throughout the North East. We have a modern, relaxed approach and try to fade into the background where possible. As professional photographers we combine artistry and technique to transform a series of pictures into a magical story. We specialise in combining reportage wedding photography with a natural, spontaneous style. With an eye for detail the images are intimate but relaxed, fun, yet professional.
How we work – A day in the life of Diamond Photography
Bridal & Groom Preparations
Mandy and I will arrive around 2 hours before the ceremony to capture those final moments before the biggest day of your life. Mandy will usually stay with the bride and I will head off to meet up with the groom. For us a big part of the bride and groom prep is about the details, the dress, the shoes, the jewellery and sometimes the tears. At this stage the emphasis is definitely on bridal preparations, and coverage of the groom is very much light touch, sorry guys.
We need to arrive at the ceremony venue about 45mins before the wedding. We don’t like to leave anything to chance and prefer to arrive in plenty of time to speak to the priest or registrar. We will usually be positioned at both the front and rear of the venue to give optimum coverage. We will capture the bride’s arrival from both angles and the precious moment when you see each other for the first time. During the ceremony we will not move around, as doing so can be a distraction.
After the Ceremony
During this period we usually take natural photographs of the bride and groom relaxing with their friends and family. Most couples also like a small number of formal group shots and some pictures of the bride and groom on their own. We recommend you allow an hour and a half to two hours from the end of the ceremony to the wedding breakfast.
Most couples like to have some formal group shots. We would ask if there is a family member or the best man that can help us gather people together; this can save a lot of time! A list of 10-15 usually works best and has little impact on the flow of the day.
Bride and Groom Photographs
Some couples only want natural photographs and don’t want to be arranged in anyway. Others love the idea of having some posed photographs of themselves and want to make the most of having a professional photographer at their disposal. We are happy to go with whatever suits you!
Often a time of tears and laughter! Most couples prefer to perform this ritual before the wedding breakfast to allow the bridal party to enjoy their meal. After the speeches we usually head off for a bite to eat and recharge our batteries, so to speak.
We try to ensure we capture all those additional guests who were not present for the daytime celebrations. The first dance is also a key moment and the last formal part of the wedding day. It is also a great a opportunity for some memorable photographs.
We will work with you to ensure your day is perfect!
